A Season of Preparation

Have you ever been in a situation where you are so close to giving up? It’s not that you want to give up; it’s just getting to a point where it is just too much to handle. In other words, life at the moment is full of pain and loss. Well, what if I told you that pain has a purpose? What if that pain is there to prepare and mold you for the next big thing? In the midst of my pain I was reminded of an important scripture.

  • James 1-2:4 - “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Think about it, what are some pieces in your life that lack maturity and need preparation?

I think some of the things we don’t receive are God’s protection in our lives. Maybe God didn’t truly give you what you wanted because there are some parts you haven’t dealt with. Maybe God didn’t change a certain situation because he is waiting on you (as an individual) to change. I believe this is one of the hardest seasons I faced. I thought this season was supposed to be exciting, but during this season, I dealt with a lot of emotions. Which included doubt, sadness, pain, and even feeling alone sometimes. I believe I felt this way because I was starting to lose hope. I was starting to forget that this season is not about comfort but about transformation. I believe God was reminding me that at the end of all of this, it was going to work out.

  • Genesis 50:20 - “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good.”

Honestly, this season kind of reminds of Joseph story. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, thrown into prison for a crime he didn’t commit, and waited years for God to put him in a position that was located in a palace. Before receiving that position, though, Joseph went through great trials and a few doubts. However, I think those same trials prepared him for what God promised him.

A word of encouragement, God didn’t forget you. You are stronger than you think and are not doing this alone.

  • Joshua 1:9- “Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with wherever you go.”
