Growing up an environment where your parents wanted you to be the perfect little girl with no flaws nor abilities to make mistakes, takes a toll on you.
Now as an adult I struggle with trying to be perfect every single day. There are moments where if I were to make a mistake, I would degrade myself and carry this guilt of shame until it became anxiety. I realized over time, I was not allowing myself to be human.
Let me tell you this, there is only ONE perfect person and that is Jesus. Jesus is the one that came down to become what we were never supposed to be… perfect.
“Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.”
Hebrews 5:8-9 NLT
We all have fallen short of God’s glory. We have all made mistakes and will likely continue to make mistakes. Don’t let what “could’ve of” or “should’ve of” prevent you from moving on to the next step in life.
I have made many mistakes I am personally not proud of. God has showed me over and over that what I have been through does not make who I am now (slightly crying).
Some words of encouragement, you are doing your best. It’s okay to feel guilty of your actions, that means you’re aware; but don’t stay there. Break the idea that you have to live up to everyone’s expectations of being perfect. Allow yourself grace and time, God knows you’re trying.
