Have you ever asked yourself, "Why is nothing in my life making sense?" You're probably living that "good" life by not cursing, not hurting anyone, volunteering, giving to the poor, attending church, building a community, etc., and still feeling like you are not "filling your purpose." Well, I hope you know by now that it is not about good deeds, church attendance, or your bible app score; it is about what is rooted in your heart. For example, let's say you are attending church. Are you attending it because you're getting a dose of God's goodness once a week, or are you attending it because you are genuinely moved to go?
Let's talk about the purpose of surrendering and submitting (giving up your will for God's will).
Proverbs 3:5- "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understandings; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your path straight."
How does God make our path straight?
Trusting in him
Leaning on his understanding and not our own
Submitting to him
--Key Note: In order, for you to submit to God, you must surrender--
How to surrender
Humble yourself
Accepting what is
How to submit
Tell God you are giving to him (whatever situation you need to give) all.
"Lord, I am submitting all my ways to you."
Honesty, submitting to God can be super hard sometimes. There are so many things in this world that we are not ready to give up. If you want what God has for you (that righteous path), you have to be willing to give him your whole heart.
