What did Jesus Do?

Written by Elsie Revange

We, as believers, are called to live like Jesus, right? Yes, and what did Jesus do? Jesus never stopped being kind, nor did he ever stop being good.

  • Galatians 6:9- “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessings if we don’t give up.”

When I think of this scripture, I think, “Okay, even though I am tired of people taking advantage of my kindness and treating me like rubbish, you’re telling me I still have to do “what is good.” (This does not include setting boundaries. Some boundaries are necessary). Many would think, “Why, though?” Why do I have to be such a kindhearted person towards others? People have talked about me, belittled me, betrayed me, and completely turned away from me. Why do I have to be the person to do “what is good”? Remember, we are to be like Jesus, so ask yourself, what did Jesus do? Jesus was also belittled, talked about, and betrayed by one of his own disciples.

One thing I have learned about my walk with Christ is that Jesus understands 100% what we are going through. He understands because he came down in human form and bore the trials and temptations we bear today.

Another scripture I want to mention is 1 John 4:19, which simply states. “We love because he first loved us.”

Now I want you to replace a few words. Replace the words “we” with “I am,” “us,” with “me”, and “love” with one of the fruits of the spirit that describes you best. (Fruits of the spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self- Control). For example, “I am kind because he is kind to me.” or “I am faithful because he is faithful to me. I believe that is how Jesus wants us to see other people; because his love was given to us, we must also give love to others as well.

Not only are we called to be like Jesus, but God also reminds us that we will receive a harvest of blessings if we don’t give up!!

A word of encouragement, never give up and focus on what God promised you. His promises are always “yes and amen.”
