I was scrolling through Tik Tok today (I don’t normally do this, but I did) and came across this question: What have you learned about yourself and life? I already knew what I had learned about myself because I had thought about this question a few months earlier. I’ve come to realize that I never thought that I was ever doing enough. I have realized that I tend to blame myself a lot, and I blame myself because I hold the weight of responsibility and pressure. I set really high expectations, and when I can’t seem to reach those expectations, I get upset and tell myself I need to do better. In other words, instead of congratulating myself for trying, I feel a sense of guilt when things are not achieved.
Maybe you are not as offended by yourself as I am. Maybe you are offended by the words of others and constantly want to prove yourself. A word of advice, though, there is nothing to prove.
Ephesians 2:10- “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the new things he planned for us long ago”.
A few synonyms of masterpiece: Gem, Prize, and Treasure
1 Peter 2:9- “But you are chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praise of him who called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light."
Can you believe that!!! Not only are we enough, but we are also a masterpiece; we are chosen and special! Remember, the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, and he will also try to convince you that you are not enough to achieve anything. Just like Moses, who thought he was inadequate to save God’s people, God reminded him that he was sufficient and capable of doing so.
A word of encouragement: Believe and live like you are enough; if you struggle with believing that, give it to God. God didn’t create you by mistake, and he definitely didn’t create you to doubt yourself. Go and love who God created you to be!
